SplitSave helps you save money on train travel by splitting your journey into multiple tickets — without changing trains. It’s available on selected routes in our mobile app and will appear automatically when it’s an option.
What is SplitSave?
SplitSave finds clever combinations of tickets that make your journey cheaper.
You travel the same route, but with more than one ticket instead of one through-ticket.
Just show each ticket when requested along your journey.
Do I have to change trains?
No! SplitSave doesn’t add extra changes.
If your journey had no changes before, it still won’t.
If your trip already includes a change, that will stay the same.
Your train must stop at every station where your tickets ‘split’, but you don’t need to get off.
How flexible is it?
If your SplitSave includes an Advance ticket, you must take the specific train booked.
If it’s made up of flexible fares (Anytime, Off-Peak, or Super Off-Peak), you can travel on any train that stops at your split stations.
How does it save money?
It’s all down to UK fare rules — ticket prices are based on things like distance, flexibility, and time of day.
SplitSave finds the cheapest combination of valid tickets to make your total fare lower.
Is it legit?
Absolutely!
You’re buying normal tickets, just more than one.
They’re all valid for your full journey.
Can I use a Railcard?
Yes — just add your Railcard before you search to get even cheaper prices.
Can I reserve a seat?
Yes, where seat reservations are available, we’ll try to reserve one for you.
In rare cases, you may only get a seat for part of your journey or may need to change seats mid-way — check your ticket for details.
