Two same ticket types have different prices — why?

When you search for a journey in our app or on our website, you might sometimes see two tickets with the same name but different prices.
Don’t worry — it’s not a glitch!

Trainline works with 28 different Train Operating Companies (TOCs), and each one sets its own prices.
That means the same ticket type (for example, an Off-Peak Return) might cost slightly different amounts depending on the train company running the service.

You can click on each ticket type to check its terms and conditions.
If both are the same, go ahead and book the cheaper option — that’s more money for coffee or snacks at the station! ☕️
