Before buying a Season ticket, you’ll need a Photocard to use as ID when travelling.
If you don’t already have one, you can request a Photocard by filling out the form attached to this article.
⚠️ Important: Trainline can only issue adult Photocards (aged 16 or over).
Requests for customers under 16 cannot be processed.
Alternatively, you can visit your local train station ticket office with a passport-size photo (around 35mm x 45mm) — they’ll make one for you on the spot.
Using your Photocard
Your Photocard number must appear on your Season ticket.
To make your Season ticket valid, you must show both your Season ticket and your Photocard (with matching numbers) when asked by rail staff.
If you can’t present a valid Photocard with your Season ticket, you may be charged for a Day ticket or a penalty fare.
Digital Photocards (Sticket Fulfilment)
If you buy a Season ticket through the Trainline app and Sticket fulfilment is available for your route, you can create a digital Photocard directly in the app.
Your digital Photocard acts as your ID when travelling — no need for a paper one!
