The way you receive your tickets depends on the train operator you are travelling with. In most cases, you will receive an eticket by email, which you can: show in the Trainline app (barcode), or print on an A4 sheet. Below you’ll find ticket delivery methods by country and operator 👇
United Kingdom
Etickets (PDF)
Sent by email
Can be shown in the app, on your phone or printed on A4
Mobile Tickets
Available instantly in the app
Must be activated before travel

Link sent by email to print at home
Ticket machine collection
Available at 1,700+ machines in the UK (15 minutes after booking)
Postal delivery (UK only)
Standard Post: sent within 24 hours (if travel is 7+ days away)
Next-Day Delivery: arrives before 13:00 next business day (if booked before 15:00)
France
SNCF / TGV Lyria
You can:
display your ticket in the Trainline app,
print it on A4,
print it at an SNCF self-service machine using your 6-letter booking reference.
If you have a Carte Voyageur and added it to your profile, you may also show it to the conductor.
OUIGO
Tickets available in the “My Tickets” section of the app 4 days before departure
You’ll also receive a PDF by email 4 days before departure
🔎 If you haven’t received your tickets:
retrieve them on the OUIGO website using your booking reference + email, or
use the email search option if you don’t have your reference.
You can present:
the barcode in the app,
the PDF on your phone,
a printed A4 copy.
Eurostar
Tickets sent by email
Show them in the app or print on A4
⚠️ For travel to/from London, you must fill in API (Advance Passenger Information).
Germany – Deutsche Bahn
Eticket sent by email

Depending on the ticket type, you will receive:
Electronic ticket
Sent by email (PDF)
Show in the app or print on A4
Regional Digital Ticket
The PDF received is not valid for travel
You must show the activated QR code in the app

You will receive an email with a PNR code
On board, simply tell the conductor the 6-character code
Keep your confirmation email accessible
Italo
You will receive an electronic ticket. You can:
give the booking code when asked by staff,
print the confirmation email,
or show your journey details in the Trainline app or mobile site.
Spain
Renfe & iryo
Eticket sent by email
Viewable in the app or printable on A4
OUIGO España
OUIGO (not Trainline) will send your tickets directly.
They are usually generated within a few minutes of completing your booking.
If you don’t receive their email:
You can download your tickets from the “Mis Reservas” section on the OUIGO España website.
Cercanías
For Cercanías bookings:
You will receive a print-at-home eticket in your Trainline confirmation email.
The ticket is also available as a PDF in your Trainline account.
You can scan the PDF’s QR code directly from the Trainline app.
Note: Once printed at the station or validated at a QR scanner, Cercanías tickets are valid for 2 hours.
Other European operators
(CD, CFL, DSB, SBB/CFF, WESTbahn)
