The easiest way to stay updated while travelling is to use the live train tracker on our app or website.

If your train is cancelled more than 48 hours in advance
If your train is cancelled at least 48 hours before departure and we email you to let you know, you can use your existing ticket to travel on:
the two trains before, or
the two trains after your original service,
as long as the replacement service is operated by the same train company.
Flexible tickets (e.g. Off-Peak, Anytime) already allow wider travel times.
Always check your ticket conditions in case you are restricted to a specific operator or route.
If your train is cancelled within 48 hours of departure
You can still use your existing ticket to travel on the closest available service with the same train company:
Advance Singles:
Travel on the service immediately before or after your booked train (same operator).Flexible tickets (Off-Peak / Anytime):
Travel on any valid service during the appropriate time band, as usual.
Check your ticket for any operator or route restrictions.
If these alternatives don’t work for you and you can no longer travel, you’re entitled to a refund.
If only one part of your return journey is affected
If your outbound or return service is cancelled or disrupted, we can offer a fee-free refund or change of journey for both legs, even if you hold two separate single tickets that make up a return.
How to request a refund
The fastest way to get your money back is online:

Strikes
The same rules apply during strike disruption.
In some cases, ticket validity may be extended so you can travel the day before or the day after the strike.
Please check our Strike Information page for the latest details.
We update the page as soon as train companies release their information.
If the strike has just been announced, details may take a little time to appear—please check back later.
