Some train operators offer First Class tickets, giving you benefits such as extra legroom, quieter carriages, free Wi-Fi and, on certain services, complimentary food and drink.
However, there are situations where train operators may need to declassify First Class.
This usually happens when services are extremely busy or during disruption, when opening First Class to all passengers helps reduce overcrowding and keeps people moving safely.
💬 What if I paid for First Class?
We understand this can be disappointing.
If First Class is declassified, the train operator will refund the difference between the First Class fare and the Standard Class fare (for the same ticket type).
👉 You will need to contact the train operator directly to request this refund.
