This information applies to journeys within the UK.
When you search for a trip, we’ll always recommend the best way to transfer between stations during your journey. This could involve walking, taking the Tube, or using a bus, depending on the location.
Here’s how it works:
🚶♂️ Short walking transfers
If the distance between two stations is small, we may recommend walking as the quickest and easiest option.
🚇 Transfers in London (Tube included)
If your journey requires you to travel between two stations in London, we may recommend taking the London Underground.
In these cases, your Tube fare will be included in the total cost of your ticket.
🚌 Transfers outside London (bus not included)
If your connection is between stations outside London, a local bus may be the best option.
We only sell the rail tickets, so you will need to buy any bus tickets separately.
⚠️ Edinburgh Airport exception (important)
If part of your trip includes travel from Edinburgh Airport to a nearby station, our journey planner may suggest taking a bus or tram.
However, these tickets are not included, and you will need to buy them yourself.
This recommendation comes from industry data, but in this specific case it can sometimes be misleading. We are working to improve this experience.
