Advance tickets are Single tickets that you buy before you travel — usually the cheapest option for long-distance journeys.
They’re available from 12 weeks before departure, and some train companies release them up to 24 weeks in advance.
When Advance tickets are released, you’ll see them straight away on Trainline. They’re limited, so it’s best to book early — they can sell out fast!
You can also mix and match two Advance Singles to make a return trip.
If Advance tickets aren’t available yet, you can sign up for a Ticket Alert, and we’ll email you when they’re released.
Sometimes, Advance tickets are still on sale up to two hours before departure, so it’s worth checking on the day too.
